Foundation Phase:
It is very important to us to keep our classes small so that each learner can achieve his/her full potential.
All our teachers are very well qualified and have a passion for teaching.
School hours:
Grade R: 08:00 – 13:00
Grade 1: Monday and Wednesday 7:30-13:06 | Tuesday and Thursday 7:30-13:34
Grade 2: Monday – Thursday 7:30-13:34
Grade 3: Monday – Thursday 7:30-13:34
Grade 1 – 3: Friday 7:30-13:00
Grade R, 1 and 2 = 23 hours of teaching time per week
Grade 3 = 25 hours of teaching time per week
Promotion Requirements for Foundation Phase:
Home Language Level 4 (50%)
Mathematics Level 3 (40%)
First Additional Language Level 3 (40%)
Assessments in the Foundation Phase:
Each subject has specific content that must be mastered by the end of each term.
Home Language consists of 3 areas:
- Listening and Speaking
- Reading and Phonics
- Writing and handwriting
Mathematics
Mathematics in the Foundation Phase consists of 5 content areas:
- Numbers, operations and relationships
- Patterns, functions and algebra
- Space and shape
- Measurement
- Data handling
Life Skills
Life Skills consists of the following areas:
- Beginning knowledge and personal and social well- being
- Performing arts
- Visual arts
- Physical Education

Homework
In the foundation phase we take homework very seriously as the primary purpose of homework is to practise and consolidate the work done in the classroom. A secondary purpose is to develop a sense of responsibility and good study habits in the learners.
- Homework is given on a daily basis.
- A period of 20-30 minutes must be set aside daily for the completion of homework.
- Parents must be involved in the completion of homework and must assume ultimate responsibility for the checking of homework. Homework books and reading cards must be checked and signed daily. Homework books are used as a communication method between parents and the school.
Intermediate and Senior Phase
In the Intermediate and Senior Phase, we follow the CAPS curriculum.
School starts at 07:30 and ends at 14:30, allowing the allocated 27.5 hours of teaching per week.
In the Intermediate Phase we offer English Home Language and First Additional Language, Afrikaans Huistaal and Eerste Addisionele Taal, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Technology, Social Sciences (History and Geography), Physical Education and Personal and Social Well-Being, Art and Drama.
In the Senior Phase, we offer English Home Language and First Additional Language, Afrikaans Huistaal and Eerste Addisionele Taal, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Economic and Management Sciences, Technology, Social Sciences (History and Geography), Physical Education and Personal and Social Well-Being, Art and Drama.
Assessments:
Regular School Based Assessments (SBAs) are written every term. Quarterly assessment schedules are provided to the learners. Examinations are written in the second and fourth terms.
The weightings of the School Based Assessment (SBA) and end of the year examination are as follows:
Intermediate Phase SBA Component 80% and end of the year examination 20%
Senior Phase SBA Component 60% and end of the year examination 40%.
In the fourth term, the Gr 3 & 6 learners are evaluated in the Systemic Evaluation in Home Language and Mathematics by the Western Cape Education Department.

Dit is vir ons uiters belangrik om ons klasse klein te hou sodat elke leerder sy/hy se volle potensiaal kan bereik.
Al ons onderwysers is goed gekwalifiseer en het ‘n passie vir onderwys.

Lewensvaardigheid bestaan uit die volgende areas:

Huiswerk
In die Grondslagfase neem ons huiswerk baie ernstig op aangesien die primȇre doel van huiswerk is om te oefen en die werk wat in die klas gedoen is, vas te lȇ. Die sekondȇre doel daarvan is om verantwoordelikheidsin en goeie studiegewoontes by leerders aan te wakker.
- Huiswerk word daagliks gegee.
- ‘n Periode van 20-30 minute per dag moet opsygesit word vir die voltooiïng van huiswerk.
- Ouers moet betrokke wees by die voltooiïng van huiswerk en moet uiteindelik verantwoordelikheid vir die kontrolering van huiswerk aanvaar.
- Huiswerkboeke en leeskaarte moet nagegaan word en daagliks onderteken word. Huiswerkboeke word as kommunikasiemiddel tussen ouers en die skool gebruik.
Intermediȇre en Senior Fase
In die Intermediȇre en Senior Fase volg ons die KABV kurrikulum.
Skool begin om 07:30 en eindig teen 14:30, wat voorsieing maak vir die geallokeerde 27.5 ure van onderrig per week.
In die Intermediȇre Fase bied ons English Home Language en First Additional Language, Afrikaans Huistaal en Eerste Addisionele Taal, Wiskunde, Natuurwetenskap en Tegnologie, Sosiale Wetenskap (Geskiedenis en Geografie), Liggaamsopvoeding en Persoonlike en Sosiale Welstand, Kuns en Drama aan.
In die Senior Fase bied ons English Home Language en First Additional Language, Afrikaans Huistaal en Eerste Addisionele Taal, Wiskunde, Natuurwetenskap Ekonomiese en Bestuurswetenskap, Tegnologie, Sosiale Wetenskap (Geskiedenis en Geografie), Liggaamsopvoeding en Persoonlike en Sosiale Welstand, Kuns en Drama aan.
Assesserings:
Gereëlde Skoolgebasseerde Assesserings (SAs) word elke kwartaal geskryf. Kwartaallikse assesserings skedules word aan die leerders beskikbaar gestel. Eksamens word in die tweede en vierde kwartale geskryf. Die gewig van die Skoolgebasseerde Assesserings (SAs) en einde van die jaar eksamens is soos volg:
Intermediȇre Fase SA Komponent 80% en einde van die jaar eksamen 20%.
Senior Fase SA Komponent 60% en einde van die jaar eksamen 40%.
In die vierdie kwartaal word die Gr 3 & 6 leerders d.m.v. Sistemiese Evaluerings in Huistaal en Wiskunde deur die Wes-Kaapse Onderwysdepartement geëvalueer.
